Fowey

Since the middle ages, smuggling, pilchard fishing, piracy and shipwrecks all form an important part of the rich heritage of the picturesque town of Fowey.
The captivating mix of old and new sees the meeting of fishing boats with stylish yachts and traditional pubs with trendy restaurants. A natural harbour, Fowey is now a popular destination and haven for visiting yachts.
Fowey

Readymoney bay is a small gently sloping sandy beach which is situated in a cove sheltered by cliffs which open out on to the mouth of the River Fowey Estuary. To the North is the medieval part of the Fowey and to the South West is St Catherine's Castle.

Across the river opposite Fowey is the small hamlet of Polruan, accessed by passenger ferry, a visit to Fowey would not be complete without a trip across the river to Polruan .

Associated with Daphne Du Maurier, Fowey hosts an annual festival celebrating her literary work. This is the Festival of Arts and Literature that takes place in the middle of May each year. The Fowey Royal Regatta & Carnival week normally takes place in August and involves a week of sailing, festivities and entertainment.
